Carved on a 1936 Buffalo Nickel is "Oh Poor Nell". Oh Poor Nell is a double sided nickel carving with a Villain / 'Damsel in distress' theme. The obverse features the Villain with a menacing glare. He has great eyes, eyebrows, nose and ear. He is wearing a top hat. Background is relieved and lightly stippled. Reverse features the damsel in distress "Nell." Nell finds herself in a terrible predicament as She is tied to a railroad track with a train approaching.
