Wolf (With Gold Eyes)

My latest Hobo Nickel carving is titled "Wolf." Wolf is carved on a 1936 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel. The carving has great features & fur. Wolf is encircled by a miligrained edge & running leaf border. The carving is darkened with ink to accent. The wolf’s eyes are inlaid with 24 karat yellow gold.   SOLD

Herr Pickelhaube Hobo Nickel

Carved on a 1937 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is a WWI (World War One - The Great War) German Soldier wearing a Pickelhaube helmet. The spike was pierced from a second Buffalo Nickel and was carefully soldered onto the helmet using silver solder. There is no visible seam between coin and spike, and this addition to the coin should be very durable. The Soldier, Herr Pickelhaube, has a nicely carved ear, mustache and facial features. The field is clean, and the rim of the nickel has a milligrained edge.  

Matchstick Hobo Nickel

Carved on a 1936 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is Frankie. Frankie is carved with great facial features such as a slim face, large nose, and piercing eyes. He is wearing a fedora (hat) and has a matchstick hanging out of his mouth, which is inlaid with 24 karat yellow gold and copper.   SOLD

Happy The Circus Clown

Carved on a 1937 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is "Happy" the circus clown. Happy has an inlaid copper tongue and 24 karat yellow gold, bulbous nose. Donation for the 2010 OHNS FUN Show Auction.   DONATED

Bow Tie Beau

Carved on a 1929 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is "Bow Tie Beau." Beau sports a half smile and is wearing a bowtie. The outlines of face paint clearly depict a typical circus clown, accentuated with a 24 karat yellow gold inlaid, bulbous nose.   SOLD

#70 Clean Shave Hobo Nickel

Carved on a 1936 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is "Clean Shave." Clean Shave features a clean shaved Hobo with deeply carved facial features. He is wearing a derby hat and smoking a small cigar.   SOLD

#71 Amish Boy Hobo Nickel

Carved on a 1937 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is an Amish Boy. The carving is a traditional profile style. The boy is wearing an Amish style hat. Carving has a clean field.   SOLD

#72 5 o'clock Shadow Hobo Nickel

Carved on a 1913 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is "5 o'clock Shadow." This carving features a profile of a Hobo with full head of hair and small derby hat. Nickel has a clean field.   SOLD

#73 Dusty & Digger - Work 4 Food Hobo Nickel

Carved on a 1938 Full Horn Buffalo Nickel is #3 in the Dusty & Digger Series "Work 4 Food." Dusty & Digger are carved and sculpted. Background is relieved and stippled. Dusty is holding a sign "Work 4 Food" and Digger is begging. Rim of nickel is engraved with Hobo symbols "good for a handout" and "work found here."
